Nutritional assessment in artificially fed children with chronic intestinal disorders

LONDON, UK
APRIL 02 - 04, 2025

General Information

General Information

We recommend this course for paediatric gastroenterologists and AHPs working with children on treatment with artificial enteral and /or parenteral nutriton, EN and/or PN. Participants do not necessarily need to have previous in-depth experience.
It is more difficult to achieve appropriate weight gain and growth in artificially fed children when nutritonal intake is not fully controlled by appetite, and the child’s underlying disorder may affect muscle mass and nutrional outcome.
During our course we will look at how we can investigate growth, anthropometry and body composition with the aim of optimising treatment to give the child the best possible health and longer term outcome. We will look at how we can wean children off artificial nutrition, potential ethical issues with treatment and longer term monitoring whether still on, or weaned off treatment.

This school is supported by the ESPGHAN Education Partner Programme.
